Sunday, June 25, 2006 The next time you buy food from your usual favourite hawker stall or take a ride from a taxi, spare a thought for them because these people work hard for a living. You may have seen how some hawkers have made it big because they're doing a roaring business but have you ever wondered that they've sacrificed alot. I just came back from having a supper of noodles from this noodle stall in taman jurong. This auntie has been selling noodles there for years and she's not just getting new customers everyday but regulars that live in the area and regulars who don't, still go back to patronize her because she sells her good and cheap food. She works practically everyday and late into the night. Hawkers are just like taxi drivers, when they start working, their income also stops. They don't earn a fixed income like many of us.
